Loading... TIME magazine has announced its 2025 Person of the Year. It goes to a group of people: the "architects of AI". The award is given to "the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year". Some of the architects appear on TIME's cover. They include the CEOs of the world's top tech companies. TIME said the CEOs brought about "one of the biggest physical infrastructure projects of all time." It described 2025 as the year that AI "roared into view," showing its potential to change the world. TIME's editor commented on giving the prize to the AI architects. He wrote that it was hard to watch anything without seeing or hearing news about the "rapid advancement of a technology and the people driving it". He said there have been "a million debates about how disruptive AI would be". He added that no business leader, student, or parent "could talk about the future without invoking the impact of this technological revolution". However, he also noted the negatives of AI. These include vast energy requirements, job losses, misinformation, and cyberattacks. 授予;颁发 | 名词:win an award(获奖);动词:award sb sth(授予某人某物) | | embody | /ɪmˈbɒdi/ | v. 覆盖 | 本文指杂志封面,如 on the cover of a magazine(在杂志封面上) | | infrastructure | /ˈɪnfrəstrʌktʃə(r)/ | n. 基础设施 | 不可数名词,physical infrastructure(实体基础设施)、AI infrastructure(人工智能基础设施) | | roar | /rɔː(r)/ | v. 评论 | 动词:comment on sth(对某事发表评论);名词:make a comment(发表评论) | | rapid | /ˈræpɪd/ | adj. 争论;探讨 | 可数/不可数名词:a debate about sth(关于某事的争论);动词:debate on sth(探讨某事) | | invoke | /ɪnˈvəʊk/ | v. 笔记;注释 | 动词:比 point out 更正式,如 note the problem(指出问题) | | vast | /vɑːst/ | adj. **Person of the Year**:年度人物(《时代》周刊核心奖项,固定专有表达,首字母大写) 2. **bring about**:带来;促成;引发(后接结果、变化,正式用语,同义短语:lead to / result in) 例:The new policy brought about great changes in the city. 3. **of all time**:有史以来;空前的(修饰名词,表最高程度,如 the greatest artist of all time) 4. **comment on**:对…… **drive sth/sb**:推动……;驱动……;驾驭……(本文 driving it 中 it 指AI技术,表“技术的推动者”) 8. **a million debates**:无数次争论(a million 为虚指,表“数量极多”,类似:a thousand thoughts) 9. **talk about the future**:谈论未来(日常/正式通用,可扩展:discuss the future of sth 探讨…… **invoke the impact of**:提及…… **note the negatives of**:指出…… - 一般现在时被动:**TIME magazine has announced its 2025 Person of the Year. It goes to a group of people**(goes to 此处表“被颁给”,被动含义);**The award is given to** the person or persons...(直接用 be given to 表“被授予”) - 现在完成时被动:**there have been "a million debates"**(表“到目前为止已经发生的动作”,即“各界已展开无数次争论”) ### 2. 定语从句 #### (1)限制性定语从句 - **the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives**(who 指代先行词 the person or persons,在从句中作主语,不可省略,修饰“影响最大的人”) - **no business leader, student, or parent "could talk about the future without invoking the impact of this technological revolution"**(省略了 who/that,完整为 no business leader... who could talk...,who/that 在从句中作主语,因先行词含否定词 no,常用 that 或 who) #### (2)非限制性定语从句 - **Some of the architects appear on TIME's cover. They include the CEOs of the world's top tech companies**(可合并为 Some of the architects, who include the CEOs..., appear on TIME's cover,who 指代 architects,补充说明封面人物构成,非限定从用逗号分隔) ### 3. - **It goes to a group of people**(it 指代前文的“2025 Person of the Year”这一奖项,形式上作主语,避免重复) - 扩展(同类核心句型):**It is + 形容词/名词 + to do/that 从句** 例:It is important to learn AI knowledge. / It is a fact that AI is changing the world. ### 4. 状语从句 #### (1)让步状语从句——for good or ill **for good or ill** 相当于 whether it is good or bad,作让步状语,表“无论好坏”,修饰前面的“影响”,简洁正式。 例:For good or ill, the new technology has changed our daily life. #### (2)时间状语从句——without doing 文中 **without seeing or hearing news about...** / **without invoking the impact of...** 为“介词+动名词”结构,相当于否定的时间状语从句,表“做某事时却不……”,比直接用从句更简洁,是书面语常用简化形式。 It was hard to watch anything **and you don't see or hear** news about... 例:No one can succeed without working hard.(没有人能不努力就成功。) ### 5. - **TIME said (that) the CEOs brought about...**(that 引导宾语从句,作 said 的宾语,可省略) - **He wrote that it was hard to watch anything...**(that 引导宾语从句,作 wrote 的宾语,因从句较长,that 保留更清晰) - **He said (that) there have been a million debates about...**(that 引导宾语从句,作 said 的宾语,可省略) ### 6. - 名词并列:**no business leader, student, or parent** / **vast energy requirements, job losses, misinformation, and cyberattacks**(并列名词/名词短语,用逗号+and/or连接) - 句式并列:**It described 2025 as the year that AI...** / **He wrote that it was hard to...** / **He said there have been...**(并列的观点表述句,句式一致) 最后修改:2026 年 01 月 19 日 © 允许规范转载 打赏 赞赏作者 支付宝微信 赞 如果觉得我的文章对你有用,请随意赞赏
